ASU organises Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Risk Management Awareness Programme
Assam Skill University organised an Awareness Programme on Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Risk Management in collaboration with the DDMA Darrang under its Environment and Safety Management Plan (ESMP) on 24th June, 2026. The programme was attended by Deans of various schools of the University, Heads of Departments, Dr. Bhabaranjan Sarmah, Controller of Examinations; Dr. Jagadish Nath; Deputy Registrar, faculty members, officials, staff and frontline workers of the University. Addressing the participants, Dr. Bhabaranjan Sarmah emphasised the importance of preparedness and timely response during emergencies, highlighting the crucial role of first responders in minimising risks and saving lives. Speaking on the occasion, Jagadish Bhattacharyya, District Project Officer, DDMA, Darrang, appreciated Assam Skill University for organising the programme and stressed the importance of building a culture of safety, preparedness and resilience through continuous awareness and capacity-building initiatives. The awareness session and practical demonstrations were conducted by resource persons from DDMA and the District Disaster Response Force (DDRF), including Mir Kamaruj Zaman, Field Officer, DDMS, and Jagadish Bhattacharyya, District Project Officer, DDMA. The programme provided participants with practical knowledge on first aid, life-saving skills, emergency search and rescue techniques, and other essential response measures, reinforcing the importance of preparedness in safeguarding lives and property.
