Industry Conclave on National ITI Upgradation Scheme

Assam Skill University co-hosted the Industry Conclave on National ITI Upgradation Scheme under the Hub-and-Spoke Model at Vivanta, Guwahati on 30th August, 2025, along with the Department of Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship (SEED) and Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training Assam (DECT).
The Conclave brought together government leaders, industry experts, and training partners to deliberate on strengthening Assam’s skilling ecosystem.
In attendance were Dr. Ravi Kota, IAS, Hon'ble Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, who delivered the keynote address; Shri Gyanendra Dev Tripathi, IAS, Hon'ble Principal Secretary, SEED, who opened the platform for discussion and later co-chaired the one-to-one industry interactions; Dr. B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, IAS, Hon'ble Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam (Panchayat & Rural Development; Cultural Affairs) co-chaired the one-to-one sessions. Shri Narendra Kumar Shah, IAS, Director, DECT, outlined SEED’s initiatives and the National Scheme for ITI Upgradation and later delivered the vote of thanks. Mr. Hanif Noorani, ACS, CEO, Assam Skill University Project, and Registrar, Assam Skill University, presented ASU’s downstream industry linkages. 
From the industries, Mr. Biswajit Chakrabarty, Senior Director (North East), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) ; Mr. Arup Laskar, Chief General Manager (TS), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL); Mr. Balaji Sarma, CEO, Labournet Foundation ; Mr. Uma Maheshwar Siddanki, Founder & CEO, Drone Space R&D Technologies; and Mr. W. R. Harinarayanaraj, CEO, Construction Skill Development Council of India- CSDCI India, shared sector perspectives on the National Scheme for ITI Upgradation. 
The discussion emphasised: 
 Developing 200 Hub ITIs as Centres of Excellence supported by 800 Spoke ITIs
 Industry-aligned curriculum, modern infrastructure, and stronger placement linkages
 Preparing youth for the evolving service sector, gig economy, and technology-driven opportunities
 Continuous skilling, re-skilling & up-skilling to make Assam’s youth globally competitive
