Posted on : Oct 5, 2026

The Department of Tourism, Assam Skill University (ASU) organised a Heritage Walk on 5 October 2026 in Mangaldai, covering Raja Hawli and Jaljali, an archaeological site under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

The students were accompanied by faculty members, industry experts Shri Arijit Purkayastha and Shri Hemanta Das, and Shri Bhargav Das, Senior Correspondent, The Sentinel, Mangaldai. Members of the local communities also joined the walk and shared valuable legends, stories and information associated with these heritage sites.

The heritage walk provided students with an opportunity to explore the rich cultural and historical legacy of Darrang while understanding the tourism potential of their own surroundings. The initiative also aimed to develop practical skills in tour guiding, mapping of tourist resources, destination branding, storytelling and communication.

The Department of Tourism, ASU looks forward to undertaking many more such meaningful initiatives that connect classroom learning with the heritage, culture and communities of the region.

Heartfelt thanks to our guests, industry experts, faculty members and local community members for their valuable support and for being part of this enriching experience.
